About me
Dr Shale is a Lesotho-born development consultant with over ten years’ experience in the field of climate change adaptation, primarily in the energy sector across Africa. She has led research teams at international universities: Freie University in Berlin, Germany and the University of Cape Town in South Africa, on several academic and professional research projects. Her experience also covers research, training and consulting for development projects across Southern Africa. She also previously served as Programme Manager at the VITALITE Group, a Southern African PAYGO solar company. Dr. Shale holds a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Cape Town.
My organisation
NalaPayGo is a majority female-owned and managed last mile solar distribution company. It is the pioneer and sole provider of pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) solar in Lesotho. We are distributors of SHS to rural and peri-urban households where grid electricity is not available. NalaPayGo's business models is based on an agent network, the majority of whom are female youth. We are in our scale-up phase and would like to increase the number of agents and service centres throughout the country.
