About me

Jacob Demeyer is Cofounder and Managing Director of Hirundo Energy and Managing Director of Hirundo Lesotho. With an educational background in aerospace & electrotechnical engineering, Jacob brings over 15 years of experience in project development and management.

In his current role at Hirundo Lesotho, Jacob oversees the development of Lesotho’s first commercial wind farms located in Mohale’s Hoek and Masite Nek, with a combined planned output exceeding 225 GWh annually. These projects aim to meet approximately 25% of Lesotho’s domestic electricity demand, triggering local job creation, skills development, and energy resilience.

Jacob recently completed an Executive MBA and a Master Class in Corporate Governance, Risk & Compliance, strengthening his understanding of sustainable leadership and responsible investment. He is convinced of the role of wind energy as a driver of both climate action and local impact, and believes that well-designed projects can create long-term value for host communities and national energy systems alike.
